The 2026 TCS New York City Marathon is Sunday, Nov. 1. It starts at Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island, at the foot of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, and finishes in Central Park just past Tavern on the Green. That puts race-week shopping in three places: the expo on the far West Side, the running stores around Columbus Circle and the Upper West Side near the finish, and a handful of specialty shops downtown and in Brooklyn. This guide covers where to get shoes fitted, where to pick up gels and layers, which stores run shakeouts this year, and what your cheering crew can do on race day.
The Expo and Bib Pickup
The TCS New York City Marathon Expo (Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, 11th Avenue between West 35th and 36th Streets), presented by New Balance, runs Thursday, Oct. 29 and Friday, Oct. 30 from 10am to 8pm, and Saturday, Oct. 31 from 9am to 5pm. It is near Hudson Yards. Bib pickup closes 30 minutes before the expo does: 7:30pm on Thursday and Friday, 4:30pm on Saturday.
Pickup is strict. You collect your own bib in person, with photo ID and your runner confirmation form, and nobody else can pick it up for you. You also need a pickup time slot, booked in your NYRR dashboard. You can change the slot until 4pm on Saturday, Oct. 31. If your schedule allows, take a Thursday or Friday slot, collect your bib first, and shop the expo after.
New Balance's 2026 marathon collection is also sold online at newbalance.com. Ordering there skips the expo lines and the gear that sells out there, so if you want a piece from the collection, order before you travel.
The NYRR RUNCENTER on 57th Street
The NYRR RUNCENTER (320 W. 57th St), New York Road Runners' center near Columbus Circle, reopened on Sept. 9, 2026 after a seven-month renovation that added nearly 2,000 square feet. Inside are 105 public lockers, a water refill station, a drop box for used sneakers you want to donate, and a programming loft that seats up to 150 for talks and classes. Next door, New Balance runs the New Balance Run Hub (322 W. 57th St). The RUNCENTER is open 9am to 8pm on weekdays and 9am to 5pm on weekends; the Run Hub opens at 10am and closes at 7pm on weekdays and 5pm on weekends.
Fleet Feet: Five Stores and the Race-Week Calendar
If you need shoes fitted this week, go to a running-specialty store rather than a fashion flagship. Fleet Feet has five New York stores. Fleet Feet Columbus Circle (10 Columbus Circle) is the closest to the finish and the base for most of its race-week events. The others are Fleet Feet Upper West Side (140 W. 72nd St), Fleet Feet Upper East Side (1051 Third Ave), Fleet Feet Union Square (42 W. 14th St) and Fleet Feet Brooklyn (474 Fifth Ave, Brooklyn). The Manhattan stores are open 10am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 7pm Sunday; Brooklyn closes at 7pm every day.
Fleet Feet has posted a full 2026 race-week schedule, with sign-ups through Heylo. The highlights, at Columbus Circle unless noted:
Saturday, Oct. 24 at 8:30am, "The Last 10" with ASICS starts on the Upper East Side and ends with breakfast at Columbus Circle. Sunday, Oct. 25 at 9:30am, "The Final 5" with New Balance runs five miles from East 135th Street and Fifth Avenue to Columbus Circle. Neither has bag check. On Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 6:30pm, On hosts a Q&A with demos. On Thursday, Oct. 29 at 6:30pm, HOKA's "Run the City" leaves Columbus Circle with stops at the Upper East and Upper West Side stores, and the first 200 runners get a custom tee.
Friday, Oct. 30 has three: an adidas shakeout run and breakfast at 8:30am, a CEP event with a live podcast and fun run at Fleet Feet Brooklyn at 3:30pm, and a Saucony run at 6:30pm. The last shakeout is Saturday, Oct. 31 at 8am, with Fazit and OOFOS. On race day the store holds a Marathon Celebration and Recovery event with ASICS from 11am to 6pm, and on Monday, Nov. 2, from 9am to 4pm, you can have your medal engraved and a portrait taken.
Paragon Sports and New Balance in Flatiron
Paragon Sports (867 Broadway, at 18th Street) is a full sporting-goods store with a running department. Its running-footwear page describes an AI foot scanner and staff who look at your arches before suggesting a shoe. The Paragon Run Club meets every Tuesday night for a group run from the store to the West Side Highway and back, with bag check and pacers for every level. Paragon is open 10:45am to 7pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 7pm on Sunday, and it sits in our Flatiron and Union Square district.
A short walk away, the New Balance Flatiron Flagship (150 Fifth Ave) is the brand's Flatiron store, with its full range and a 3D foot scanner for sizing.
Brand Stores in NoHo, Midtown and the Upper West Side
On Store NYC Lafayette (363A Lafayette St) is On's 4,800-square-foot NoHo store, with running shoes and apparel and group runs out of the shop. It is open 11am to 7pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 6pm Sunday.
Salomon (270 Columbus Ave, between 72nd and 73rd Streets) opened in May 2026 as the brand's third New York store, and its performance section is the largest of the three. Look here for running shoes, hydration vests, socks and belts, near Central Park.
In Midtown, Nike NYC House of Innovation (650 Fifth Ave) is open 10am to 8pm daily, with an Expert Studio for one-on-one product sessions and online-order pickup if you bought ahead. For the wider sneaker scene, from raffles to consignment, see our NYC sneaker stores guide.
Brooklyn: Tracksmith and Bandit
Tracksmith Trackhouse (147 Wythe Ave, Williamsburg) is Tracksmith's New York store, in our Williamsburg district, with a New York Marathon collection this fall. Its "100 Days to NYC" long-run series ends with "The Last 10" on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 6:45am, from 60th Street and First Avenue to the Central Park finish line. The Trackhouse is open 11am to 7pm on weekdays, 9am to 7pm Saturday and noon to 6pm Sunday.
In Greenpoint, the Bandit Running store is at 37 Noble St. It doesn't post hours, so check before you go.
Where Your Crew Can Watch
Rockefeller Center's race guide lists these viewing spots: Fourth Avenue in Brooklyn (miles 3 to 7), Lafayette Avenue in Fort Greene (mile 8), Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg (miles 11 and 12), Vernon Boulevard in Long Island City (mile 14), First Avenue on the Upper East Side (miles 17 to 19), Fifth Avenue from 110th down to 90th Street (miles 22 and 23), and Central Park South (mile 25). Finish-line grandstand seats are sold in advance through NYRR, and the free viewing areas close once they are full.
Two spots pair well with shopping. Bedford Avenue runs through Williamsburg, so a crew can watch at miles 11 and 12, then browse the neighborhood. First Avenue is two avenues from Fleet Feet Upper East Side, a useful place to meet if your runner needs a dry layer later.
After the Finish
The finish is on the park's West Side, close to Columbus Circle and the Upper West Side, so plan the reunion and the first meal on that side. Fleet Feet Columbus Circle's recovery event runs until 6pm on race day, and Salomon on Columbus Avenue is open until 6pm Sunday if your runner needs a dry layer. For a meal nearby, see our Upper West Side page and Barney Greengrass on Amsterdam Avenue. If you are still booking a room, see our hotels near New York shopping.
Race-Week Tips
Buy shoes early in the week and run in them before Sunday; race day is not the time for a new pair. Bring the shoes and socks you train in to a fitting so the store can compare. Pick up gels and electrolytes in the flavors you trained with, since a new one can upset your stomach at mile 20. Pack a throwaway layer for the Staten Island start, and give your crew a list of mile markers and the color of your shirt.
