Insider guide
Shopping Hudson Yards.
The story
Shopping at Hudson Yards means one building: The Shops at Hudson Yards, at 20 Hudson Yards on the Far West Side. It is a multi-level indoor mall, with luxury houses and watch boutiques on Level 1 and mid-priced brands, beauty, gifts and food on the floors above.
Level 1 holds Cartier, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Marc Jacobs, Coach and the watch boutiques. Level 2 has Uniqlo, Falconeri and Aesop, Level 3 has Aritzia, Mango and H&M, and Level 4 has the Beyond the Edge gift shop. It suits a rainy day or a one-stop trip, and it pairs easily with Vessel, Edge and the High Line next door.
What to Expect
Level 1 is the watch floor. Watches of Switzerland, Rolex, IWC, Panerai, Piaget, Cartier, Bvlgari and Van Cleef & Arpels are all here, so you can compare in one loop. Rolex at Watches of Switzerland is an official Rolex jeweler that also services watches, and Watches of Switzerland's own store carries Vacheron Constantin. Cartier's roughly 5,000-square-foot boutique has separate women's and men's watch salons and a diamond salon, and the brand suggests booking ahead. Dior sells women's and men's fashion, shoes, jewelry and eyewear, Fendi carries ready-to-wear, shoes and eyewear, and Eleventy is a newly opened women's and men's label nearby. Coach is a more affordable stop on the same floor. Stuart Weitzman sells a men's footwear collection found only at its Hudson Yards store.
Upstairs, Level 2 has Uniqlo for basics, Falconeri and Aesop. Level 3 has Aritzia, Mango, H&M and the Aroma 360 fragrance store. Level 4 has Beyond the Edge, with jewelry, home décor, apparel and souvenirs made only for Hudson Yards, Vessel and Edge. Elsewhere in the building, MUJI is the stop for backpacks and stationery, PIQ for NYC-themed books and gifts, and SLIK for pick-your-own Scandinavian candy. For a meal break, the mall points to Mercado Little Spain, a Spanish food market with restaurants.
Best Time to Visit
The Shops are open Monday to Saturday 10am to 9pm and Sunday 11am to 7pm. Some luxury boutiques close an hour early: Dior, Cartier, Tiffany & Co. and Stuart Weitzman shut at 8pm Monday to Saturday. On a weekday evening, do Level 1 first and save the upper floors for last.
If You Only Have an Hour
Start on Level 1 with a watch loop past Rolex at Watches of Switzerland, IWC Schaffhausen and Cartier, then look in at Dior. Ride up to Level 3 for Aritzia, and finish on Level 4 at Beyond the Edge for a Hudson Yards souvenir.
Where to Eat
Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare, in Hell's Kitchen, holds two MICHELIN stars. It is a counter tasting menu now run by Max Natmessnig and Marco Prins, with crisp duck breast and foie gras among the courses.
